PAR South Clubhouse Mental Health Worker

The Canadian Mental Health Association/Peel Branch is recruiting for the PAR Clubhouse Program, which provides a rehabilitation day program to adults with serious mental illness.
This full-time position (37.5 hours per week) is available in the Mississauga , Ontario Clubhouse. The Mental Health Worker is required to work on some evenings for social recreational activities, at least one Saturday per month and some public holidays such as Easter, Canada Day, New Year’s Day etc since the Clubhouse mandate and standards require the Clubhouse to be open during these times to provide activities for clients.
The schedule for such work days will be set on a rotational basis by the Clubhouse Manager, in consultation with staff.
Job responsibilities:
- To assist in the planning, implementation and evaluation of clubhouse components as assigned
- To participate in the intake/orientation of members
- To provide information to care givers, families and the community
- To engage members and facilitate the daily operations of clubhouse units in consultation with Manager, Clubhouse Services
- To develop and implement employment training, support and advocacy with members and to maintain ongoing liaison with employers
- To participate in and facilitate social recreation activities
- To provide housing and home support
- To participate on clubhouse committees and attend meetings
- To provide support to members in hospital, at community presentations, educational opportunities including case management, case conferences and community support agreements
- To participate in the management by team process for the development and implementation of core clubhouse services
- To maintain accurate and confidential records
- Other related duties
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have:
- College Diploma or University Degree in a Health/Human Services related field
- At least 1 year of experience working with adults with a serious mental illness
- Some familiarity in Psychosocial Rehabilitation and /or Recovery Philosophy
- Experience with pre-vocational, vocational, residential supports, social and life skills development
- Demonstrated teamwork ethic/practices and experience in group facilitation as well as individual supports
- Current Certification CPR/first aid is required
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention and Applied Suicide Intervention Skills training is an asset
- A second language reflecting the diversity of Peel region or fluency in French is an asset
- Ability to work occasional evenings, weekends and public holidays
