Harbor House Clubhouse: Executive Director

Position Opening: Executive Director

The Board of Directors of the newly organized Harbor House Clubhouse located in Providence, Rhode Island is seeking a full-time Executive Director.  The Executive Director will work in partnership with a strong Board of Directors, Clubhouse members, staff, and community leaders to develop the first independent, ICCD certified Clubhouse in R.I. Harbor House is a not-for-profit organization providing services and opportunities for people living with mental illness. 

 Initially the Executive Director will work with the board to raise funds for the new Clubhouse, secure a location, hire staff and recruit members. The Executive Director is ultimately responsible for managing the operations of Clubhouse, including program administration, finances, personnel, public relations, program development, marketing, fund raising, and quality assurance. We are seeking a highly motivated person interested in bringing this successful, internationally recognized program for recovery to Providence.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Experience in sharing, developing and managing a new organization including identifying and securing funding sources, fundraising, public relations and advocacy.
• Experience (minimum 5 years) working with people with mental illness, disabilities, or other related experience.
• Experience in non profit or human services management
• Experience working with a board of directors.
• A good work ethic and ability to work flexible hours.
• Ability to work with a diverse group of people.
• Excellent writing, public speaking and computer skills.
• A degree (preferably post-graduate) in human services, psychology, social work, or related field.

Requirements for Being Considerd for the Position

• Experience of or willingness to attend a 3 week, paid, out of town  ICCD training session
• Have a clear understanding, ability to articulate, and a commitment to the values and beliefs of a Clubhouse program for people living with mental illness.
• Live in or move to the Providence, RI area

Compensation

The starting salary is negotiable, depending on qualifications and experience

Harbor House Clubhouse is an innovative community based program for people living with mental illness.  It is a program organized around the concept of building a community of people who are committed to each other’s success.  Participation in the Clubhouse gives individuals the opportunity to join or re-join the worlds of friendships, important work, employment, education and to access the healthcare and social services and supports the may individually need.  Harbor House Clubhouse is a welcoming and restorative environment for people who have had their lives drastically disrupted and need the support of others who believe that recovery from mental illness is possible.  For more information on the Clubhouse Model, visit www.iccd.org.
