Fountain House seeks Development assistant

Job Title: Development assistant
Position Description:
Fountain House, one of the world’s leading providers of community mental health programs, is seeking a development assistant to support its multi-faceted fundraising effort. This position interfaces with a broad cross-section of the Fountain House community, including its members, supporters, staff and Board and requires strong organizational and interpersonal skills, as well an aptitude for the administrative demands of a high energy fundraising and cultivation effort.
Principle Responsibilites
- Process donations and prepare acknowledgement letters and other correspondence.
- Update and correct database records.
- Conduct preliminary research on prospective corporate foundation donors.
- Coordinate production and mailing of event invitations. .
- Maintain guest lists, gather and prepare registration materials for fund-raising events and other duties as assigned.
- Handle administrative details and set-up for all Board Committee meetings (i.e. prepare and distribute agendas, minutes, etc.).
- Prepare media materials for distribution. (i.e. copying, filing, mailing, e-mailing)
- Assemble media and donor kits for events and meetings.
- Assist with negotiations for space contracts and book event space, arrange food and beverage, order supplies and audiovisual equipment, make travel arrangements, etc.
- Assist with managing on-site production and clean up for events.
- Assist with preparing budgets and provide periodic progress reports to staff directors for each event project.
- Keep track of department finances including check requests, budgets, invoicing, and reporting.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Development.
Position Requirements
- Associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field.
- A minimum of three years' experience in an administrative position, preferably in a not-for-profit development office
- Proficiency in Raisers Edge, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Excellent computer skills (word processing and database management)
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Ability to present information concisely and effectively, both verbally and in writing
- Ability to organize and prioritize work
- Detail oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently with little supervision
- Capable of working well with a variety of personalities and leadership styles
- Excellent interpersonal skills
